Smallbird Financial is the operating name of Levi Ewald, offering advice-only financial planning to clients across Canada.

Everything on this website, including the blog, guides, and any other resources, is general educational information. It's meant to help you understand personal finance and make better decisions, but it is not personal financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and you shouldn't treat it as a recommendation to take any particular action.

Your situation is unique. Before acting on anything you read here, talk it through with a qualified professional who knows your full circumstances. If you'd like that to be me, the next step is to book a discovery call.

No advisor-client relationship from using this site

Reading the site, subscribing to the newsletter, or contacting me does not create an advisor-client or professional relationship. That relationship begins only once we've both signed a written engagement that sets out the scope of work, the fee, and our responsibilities. Until then, please don't rely on anything here as advice meant specifically for you.

How I work: advice-only

Smallbird Financial is an advice-only practice. I sell advice and my time, nothing else. I don't sell financial products, I don't earn commissions, and I don't charge fees based on a percentage of your assets. I'm paid directly by my clients for the advice I give, which keeps my recommendations free of those conflicts.

About my credentials

I'm a licensed physiotherapist and the founder of Smallbird Financial. I'm working toward the Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) designation and plan to continue toward the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, but I do not currently hold either one, and nothing here should be read as a claim that I do.

I am not registered as a securities dealer or adviser, so I don't manage investment portfolios, trade securities, or hold custody of anyone's money or investments. The advice I give is planning and education, and you carry out any decisions through your own accounts and providers.

No guarantee of results

Personal finance and investing always involve risk, including the possible loss of money. Past performance doesn't predict future results, and no strategy can remove risk or promise a particular outcome. Any examples, figures, or projections on the site are illustrations to explain a concept, not promises of what will happen in your case.

Accuracy of information

I work to keep the information here accurate and current, and I base it on evidence and sources I trust. Even so, rules change (tax rules and contribution limits especially), mistakes can happen, and not everything will fit your situation. I can't warrant that everything on the site is complete, accurate, or up to date, and I'm not liable for decisions made based on it. When something matters, confirm it against an official source or a professional before you act.

Links and third parties

The site may link to other websites, tools, or resources for your convenience. Those links aren't endorsements, and I'm not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of sites I don't control.

Governing law

This disclaimer and your use of the website are governed by the laws of the Province of Prince Edward Island and the laws of Canada that apply there.
